Daytime and Nighttime Cloth Diapering Solution

Hey, hey. It’s been a long time since I have written something here!! Anyway, I’m here now to talk about the types of cloth diapers that are commonly used. Yes, there are various types of cloth diapers and there are diapers specifically for day-time and for night-time. The diapers that are designed for the night-time can be used during the day-time as well. But as they say, day-time diapers are for the day-time and night-time diapers are for the night-time use.

Well, before heading into the topic, I would like to know if you have read my article on Cloth Diapers, that’s basically an introduction to cloth diapers. If you haven’t yet, please check it out here.

Day-Time Cloth Diapering

Types of day-time cloth diapers:

  • Cover Diapers
  • Pocket Diapers

The two types of cloth diapers I have used for my kid are cover diapers and pocket diapers. I started cloth diapering her when she was about 4 months old, I guess! I started with SuperBottom’s cover diapers and I wondered why I was late in starting using cloth diapers for her! It was a totally life-changing experience!

COVER DIAPERS

Cover Diaper consists of a shell, that’s basically called a cover and a wet-free dry-feel insert. The cover is waterproof and the insert has to be attached before using it. The insert is separate and can be attached to the diaper with snap buttons.

These are the most economical and versalite cloth diapers. These are best for babies who urinate more often. Once the insert is wet, you need to change only the insert and can continue using the cover by just wiping it off.

POCKET DIAPERS

Pocket Diapers are called so because these have a pocket. A stay-dry layer is sewn onto the waterproof outer layer. Together these layers form a pocket and you need to stuff the insert inside the pocket to start using it.

I would say these are the most convenient option for day-time diapering once the baby is about 6 months old or so. Well, unlike the cover diapers while using pocket diapers you should make sure that you need to change the whole diaper once the insert is soaked.

Night-Time Cloth Diapering

Types of night-time cloth diapers

  • All In One Diaper
  • All In 2 Diaper

These are the night time diapering solution commonly used. Though I was kinda sceptical about using diapers for my girl for the night time, it turned out to be a great relief since we started using it. I haven’t used All in Two Diapers, but AIOs are my favourite. Even though my kid is now potty trained, we still use it for long distance travels.

All In One (AIO) and All In 2 (AI2) diapers are designed such a way that the insert (soaker) is attached to the shell. It also has a pocket where you can insert extra inserts if the baby is a heavy wetter.
